Vitamin D regulates many bodily processes including the absorption of essential trace elements, cell growth, inflammation, muscle function, and diabetes. [158][160]

Due to its myriad actions in the body, the scientific consider it as more of a hormone than a vitamin.  [165] Its anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant action protects against cardiovascular issues, vascular related brain disease and inflammatory bowel disease. [158][160] Our body produces this fat soluble vitamin after exposure to the sun, but when we don’t get enough full body sun exposure dietary intake through food and supplements may be necessary.

COVID

D3 can reportedly cure many diseases that are caused by a weakened immune system, can mitigate the cytokine storm commonly associated with Covid, and reduce coagulation in critically ill patients. Growing numbers of studies have confirmed low D3 exists in Covid patients and that taking D3 for existing Covid existing patients yields positive results. [165]

Israeli researchers headed by Dr Amiel Dror for example found that in 1176 Covid patients, those with Vitamin D deficiency were 14 times more likely to die from the illness. [157] D3 levels in the blood are recommended to be maintained at over 50ng / mL to prevent Covid outbreaks, as D3 deficiency is considered one of the main reasons for the current global pandemic. [165]

Vitamin D3 is involved in the regulation of the cytokine immune response, as well as programmed cell death, communication between cells and control of cellular proliferation. [162]

It plays an important role for cancer patients as it mitigates various cancer cells. Additionally it is used to help combat issues from radiation such as bone fractures, avascular necrosis (bone death), diarrhea, bleeding, dermatitis, preservation of intestinal mucosa, inflammation and fibrosis in the gut.

The reaction between Vitamin D and the gut microbiota is a key defense against radiation damage [158] Dr. Daniel Hayes suggests Vitamin D3 is the main protector against low level general radiation, as it regulates cellular proliferation, communication and apoptosis. [159]

So whatever Covid is actually caused by – a biological weapon or some form of toxicity or radiation – Vitamin D appears to be a worthy tool in your healthful arsenal.

HOW TO USE

Get your full body under the sun for a few minutes a day for maximum benefit. The more skin is exposed the better. Aim for more regular short sunbathes rather than a long session occasionally to prevent burning.

Selection of mushrooms which are high in Vitamin D

Fatty fish such as salmon, sardines tuna, swordfish, mackerel, rainbow trout, herring, and fish liver oil, beef and chicken, eggs, dairy. [161]

Oyster, Shitake Maitake or Button mushrooms can be an excellent source of D2. Take off the stalks. Place upside down on a tray to expose the gills to the sun or a UV light for 8 hours. For button mushrooms slice them instead as they don’t have gills. Bring inside and cover overnight. Repeat on day 2. They should be completely dried out so you can snap them. Store them in a sealed glass jar. Add a little rice to absorb any excess moisture to maintain dehydration. They will last for about a year.

100gm of UV infused mushrooms will give you 46,000 IUs of Vitamin D2 after 2 x 8 hour days, 200,000 IUs after 18 hours under UV light. Button mushrooms are a bit less at 20,000 IUs. Considering the capsules in my kitchen cabinet are 1000IUs, this is a significant improvement! Even a little shorter sun shower of 15 – 120 min will give you 600 – 5000 IUs.
