ABOUT
These common weeds have been run over by lawn mowers and sprayed by weed killers for way too long. They are a native flowering plant of the daisy family that grow in Europe, Asia, North America and Australia. [25] Their yellow flowers die off to reveal a little puff ball of seeds that many a hopeful dreamer have wished upon as they blow the delicate seed pods into the breeze.
Dandelion has a historical use for centuries, including 10th Century Arabic medicine for liver and spleen, 16th Century German medicine for gout, diarrhea and blisters, Native North American medicine added dyspepsia and heartburn to that list, and further uses include hepatitis, anorexia, digestion, pain and sore throat. [25][27]
Health Benefits
Dandelion is probably best known currently for its detoxification properties, and is excellent for the liver. It is also an effective Anti-inflammatory, making it a useful ally in the current state of medical side effects. Studies have also shown it is effective in protection from cardiovascular diseases due to its anti-platelet action which prevents clotting. [30] It is also reported to block spike proteins from attaching to the surface of the ACE2 receptor on cells. [28] This makes it important and safe dietary addition for pregnant women, as many miscarriages have resulted from the current ‘medication’ mandates. [29]
I would highly recommend including this as part of your diet while you are detoxing from medications and heavy metals to help the liver as it flushes the toxins out of your body.
Contains
Berberine, Calcium, Choline, Curcumin, Fiber, Folate, Iron, Magnesium, Potassium, Resveratrol, Silibinin, Silymarin, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Zinc.
HOW TO USE
Extracts of Dandelion have been used in the food industry for sweets, alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, candy and cheese. [27]
One of my favorite things to use in the kitchen, Dandelion is a wonderful addition to the food and medicine collection. The leaves and flowers can be used raw or cooked in salads, stir fried, soups and tea. The root can be harvested, dried and roasted, or pre-prepared from health food shops, to make a caffeine free coffee – like beverage. The leaves can be used fresh to make a tea. And the petals can be used to make dandelion jelly.
ALERT
Dandelion soaks up toxins from everywhere – including the environment! If you are foraging for dandelion, make sure you are away from areas of high pollution, anywhere that is at risk of being sprayed with poison, and high traffic areas where dogs may have peed. For best results soak in a pot of water with a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in it for about 30 min to remove any accumulations on the leaves, then rinse thoroughly before using.
Vitamin K can affect blood clotting and medication for this physical state so check with your health professional before use. Also get advice before using with Antacids, Anti-Biotics, Blood thinners, Diuretics, Lithium, Ciprofloxacin, Diabetes medication, Heart medications.[25][26]
Also check before use if you have conditions of the liver, kidneys, gallstones, gallbladder or diabetes. [25]
Although generally safe, some people may be sensitive to Dandelion with allergic reactions such as rash, swelling, redness, irritation, heartburn and diarrhea in which case discontinue use.
