ABOUT

Glutathione has been the subject of over 80K scientific papers over more than 100 years. [68] Made by the body it is found in all bodily tissues but is most abundant in the liver, [65] and consists of three amino acids; glutamine, glycine and cysteine.

One of our greatest defenses against disease and toxicity [68] Glutathione is involved in many functions including immune system function, tissue repair and detoxification. Glutathione is the most abundant sulfur anti-oxidant, and helps maintain other anti-oxidants, [65] such as  regenerating Vitamin C and Vitamin E. [70] It is involved in cell signalling [67] so regulates cell growth and apoptosis, and aids mitochondrial function.

DETOXIFICATION

Glutathione plays a major part in detoxification as it neutralizes toxins [65] and free radicals [70] and protects cells from oxidative stress from heavy metals, drugs and other toxins. [65][67][70]

It acts as one of the most important chelators which binds with toxic materials including metals such as mercury from the brain and cells. [66] It is especially effective when combined with other anti-oxidants to protect against damage from mercury, arsenic, iron, cobalt, nickel and chromium. Supplementing cells with N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) prevents apoptosis induced by heavy metals including cadmium. [67]

GRAPHENE OXIDE

Glutathione has been shown to be effective in reducing Graphene Oxide (GO) in the body [69] GO is a super conductor that is reportedly in some or all of the shots, the PCR tests, and has also been found on some of the disposable face masks from China. While it has been widely studied for use in the medical field, there are growing concerns about its toxicity in the body. Apparently if the Glutathione balance in the body is higher than GO, it will eliminate it.

HOW TO USE

Sachet of Glutathione supplement from Pure Bulk

If taken orally Glutathione is digested down into its components before re-creating Glutathione in the body, making it unstable in the blood. It is uncertain therefor if the oral supplementation of L-Glutathione is the best way to boost cellular Glutathione levels.

On the other hand oral intake of Gamma-Glutamylcysteine (GGC) has been shown to increase cellular levels of Glutathione within hours, so it MAY be a better option. GGCs actions can also be enhanced by supplementation of Alpha-lipoic acid (found in meat and some fruits and vegetables).

N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC) -which is a precursor to Glutathione – or SAMe if you are sensitive to N-Acetyl-Cysteine, [70] and Glycine taken orally has been shown to restore levels of glutathione within two weeks.

Glutathione may be administered intravenously, via nebulizer and in skin creams, which is reportedly more effective than ingesting. [70]

ALERT

  • Due to lack of studies, be cautious using this supplement during pregnancy and breast feeding.
  • It can exacerbate asthma symptoms so be careful to not inhale it.

SOURCE

PRESERVATION

Before you start adding – stop subtracting! Drugs, alcohol, stress and toxins all decrease Glutathione levels in the body, so decrease these and help maintain your natural status. Aging also decreases Glutathione but all we can do about our golden years is to be thankful they are available to us! [65][70]

MEDITATION

You may be surprised to hear that studies have shown that people who meditate have noticeably higher levels of Glutathione than those that do not. [70]

FASTING

Although it may sound counter-intuitive, fasting aids your body to create more Glutathione. [65]

FOOD

Aid Glutathione production with anti-oxidant and sulfur rich foods such as beef, fish, poultry, garlic, shallots, onions, and cruciferous foods including cauliflower, kale and broccoli. [65] Processed foods including meat, fruit and vegetables are devoid of Glutathione so ensure you feed yourself plenty of fresh unadulterated produce. [68]

SUPPLEMENTS to boost Glutathione:

  • Alpha Lipoic Acid
  • Gamma-Glutamylcysteine
  • Glycine
  • Milk thistle strengthens liver cells [65] and helps it create more Glutathione.
  • SAMe
  • Selenium
  • Vitamin C  (see listing on Vitamin C)
  • Zinc [68]

  • Glutathione Reduced Powder (US)

WHAT IS GLUTATHIONE REDUCED?

Glutathione is present in the body in two forms. Reduced glutathione (GSH) hasn’t exerted any antioxidant effects, whereas oxidized glutathione (GSSG) has expended its antioxidant properties. Reduced glutathione usually makes up the bulk of glutathione in the body, accounting for 98%. A change in the ratio of reduced glutathione to oxidized glutathione can indicate a negative shift in cellular health.
