Zinc (Zn) is an essential trace mineral which aids with healthy cell division, cardiovascular health, immunity and fights free radicals. [173]

Zinc positively affects the production of master anti-oxidant L-Glutathione in the body, with a 1981 study showing a deficiency leads to a decrease in L-Glutathione levels in rats. [177] Zinc levels also affect L-Glutathione metabolism in neuronal cells and the developing brain, [174] and reportedly it reduces mortality and recovery time from the Convid. [176]

USE IN DETOXIFICATION

In his protocol for Detoxing for heavy metals, Dr Hyman recommends Zinc as one of the primers in getting the liver ready for a deeper heavy metal cleanse. [178] Dietary supplementation of zinc and magnesium have been shown to blunt absorption of toxic metal Cadmium in the body as a prevention and therapy [175]

Dr Klinghardt talks about Zinc at length in the video link below. In the modern world we are born with high levels of toxic metals in our cells, as our parents absorb toxic metals from food, water and the environment. This leads to a Zinc deficiency, which means during gestation our bodies don’t receive enough Zinc to build cells properly. The body then uses whatever other elements it can find to complete the cells, including cadmium, lead, mercury, and whatever else is available.

So now when Zinc is later introduced into the body, the cells detect it, dump the toxic element that has been used as a surrogate, and absorb the Zinc instead. This is a good thing!… But now the toxic metal has been mobilized into the blood, and needs to be cleaned out by the liver for elimination. If you are in reasonable health this won’t be an issue. But if the liver is already overloaded and if there is a lot of toxicity to be removed this can then cause a Herxheimer reaction.

So it is important to go super slow when detoxifying with Zinc, especially in the beginning as you test out your sensitivity. For those with extreme toxicity issues be aware it may take 12-24 months for those reactions to settle as the body slowly replaces the toxins with Zinc in the cells.

HOW TO USE

Personally I use Zinc Gluconate. Zinc Picolinate is also recommended for short bursts as long term use can be irritating to the stomach.

La Quinta Columna recommends taking NAC 600-750mg, first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, along with 2 x 25mg tablets of Zinc, specifically to get rid of Graphene Oxide. [176]

For general supplementation the following doses have been suggested:

Birth 4mg, to 1 year 5mg, to 3 years 7mg, to 8 years 12mg, to 13 years 23mg, to 18 years 34mg, adults. [172]

These amounts do vary depending on the website so check with your health care provider to see what is appropriate for you.

ALERT

  • If you are taking multivitamins please check any zinc present and subtract that from your daily zinc dose so you don’t overdo it. Too much can be VERY uncomfortable to deal with! (I know from experience…)
  • If you are overly toxic, you will want to start very slow with Zinc so you can gage how strong or mild your detoxification reaction will be.
  • Some effects of Zinc overuse could cause copper deficiency long term, or more immediately neurological problems, numbness and weakness, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, stomach cramps, diarrhea, and headaches. [172]
  • If you are on medications talk to your health professional before use and take zinc several hours away from these medications as there can be some adverse reactions, such as with some antibiotics, diuretics and penicillin. [172]

While there is zinc in plant based foods, the phytic acid inhibit the body’s ability to absorb it. Animal sources are more bioavailable as they do not have phytic acid, and they contain sulfur which aids zinc absorption. If you are vegetarian try to boost your zinc foods by at least 40%. [173]
